Final Post

Part 1

walk around the block 10- f/2.7, 1/200 sec.
Wow! this cat was a stray and I think that with this photograph I made it look beautiful.  It would not leave our house, well the outside.  The texture behind the cat is is very rich and I think the photo was captured at just the right time.  This is my favorite picture taken for walk around the block and I feel that this cat...., well actually, I'm still not a cat person.

school house- f/2.7, 1/200 sec.
Now, this picture, this was an adventure beginning with, "Hannah (my sister) lets go out in the pouring rain, with a quarter tank of gas, on a wednesday afternoon, with a bag of chips and a can of pop. We came across this what appears to be a burnt down school house.  I fell that this picture was very strong for my urban decay project.  Just seeing the sight of this gives me the ability to see more respect and able to find beauty and treasure out of something black and burnt.

brash- f/2.7, 1/60 sec.
This is my all-time favorite picture taken this year. When I started the "contrast and texture project", I had no idea what the word "brash" meant.  This nike tennis shoe really sticks out from the high heels, I really love how I was able to work with photoshop and make the rest black and white around the bright nike shoe.

walk around the block 1- f/2.7, 1/125 sec.
My first walk around the block! This is weird to look back on this  picture that I took back in January.  I really like the lighting that there was because there really was none.  I took this in the morning on my way to the bus stop. I was able to photoshop this nicely and give it the "wintery" looking.  I love the look of the snow and the color of the tree in the early morning picture.

Part 2

Quote 1- Image, I believe has an amazing amount of effect on our thought of faith.  If you just think about all of the things out there that are based on one's belief system.  They are all taken upon one's views of the faith and their opinion on the way they view their religion and the world God has created around them.  Thinking about all the paintings, drawings, photos, statues and all the other ways people use to create their outlook on life, they all are very different.  One person can have such an opinion towards negativity that in their art, they can show darkness and hate where as another can show lightness and positiveness.  As people view lightness, we tend to think of positiveness.  Lighter colors seem to be a cheerful way to look at things in art. To me, photography can enhance faith by sending powerful messages towards my eyes, leaving thoughts to consider such as, "is this what heaven/hell will look like?", "is this really what someone looked like, (maybe Jesus)".  Photography affects the way I look at things and my belief system greatly because I have a photographic memory and tend to remember pictures rather than facts, so they stay with me, in the back of my mind constantly.  Something unseen can be made very realistic due to the talent from all the artists out there.  Many pictures have a great affect on people because the detail that is put into them, just add to the imagery and make the picture come to life.  All the views of coming from everyone can be quite different but have an everlasting input on its viewers.
Quote 5- Once I look back at all the pictures, I do wish I would have ventured out of the house more.  For my most recent picture (urban decay) I just drove around and found appropriate pictures for the theme.  Another project though that caused me to look at things in a different way was my "reflection" project.  I learned to look at things that are able to reflect and that alone was such a neat experience.  Now, honestly, anywhere I go, I look at things reflections, especially water! Water really opened my eyes to how reflective it was!  Looking at the world as "a set of potential photographers" can be dangerous because not everyone will look at things the same as you, and you may be missing out on something great that you may not be able to see, or even more sad, maybe you'll miss the moment because you're looking through the lens instead of seeing the real thing.  This could make you miss out on important things in life, a sad but true statement.

Part 3

1.) The main reason anyone takes photographs seems to be to recall memories later, to look back and say "remember when?".  I really enjoy looking back at old pictures from the past.  Other reasons to take photographs though, is beautiful moments in nature, a once in a lifetime moment, or just to see how your camera will work with the situation.
2.) My photography has changed by the way I look at things in nature and moments that I want to capture.  Photoshop can never take the picture, you must be in the moment and make the picture look beautiful yourself.  I love looking at things in a new way now due to all these projects, it makes me realize how precious each thing is and each moment.
3.) I think I have many aspects to continue working on in my photography but the main thing that comes to my mind is, getting to more areas and take photos from different angles.  This will enhance the outcome of each picture if I could just put the camera in a different position.
4.) To remain an active photographer I will carry my camera with me to more and take more time to look at the environment that surrounds me.  I need to avoid forgetting my camera and offer to be the picture taker more, rather than me being in the pictures.  I need to develop the habit of looking at the people and things around me and ALWAYS having my camera with me, then frequently looking at my photos.
5.) In my photos I've taken this semester some projects have been more successful than others.  In my contrast and texture, I feel that my brash photo was well done, expressing the word "brash".  My other photos in my project of "depth of field" such as the volleyball and osu pictures were well taken along with the help of photoshop, these images became successful.  My last project was "urban decay" which I feel is my most successful project due to driving around and finding creepy and unknown places to take pictures.  These photos helped me grow as a photographer by proving that I can see things in a different way and make old and beat up things look interesting.  And finally, I can continue with these works by once again, looking at things in a new way from other people.  Taking pictures from different views can be a new way that other people don's see.  This class has showed me new ways to look and photograph people, places, and things.  This class was one of my favorites this semester.

Urban Decay

Urban Decay, was a very challenging project, this was a project that i took on the view, "I needed to go looking for places to photograph".  I took my step sister Hannah, and just looked for anything "old" or broken looking in my home area, Green.  I was very surprised to find all the things and places I did.  Everything from a what seems to be burnt down school house, to a half of a cement truck.  It was an evening of adventure when exploring these places.

Shadows (student choice)

For my student choice project, i chose to experiment with the world of shadows. It really changes your view of looking at things. Shadows are so fascinating to see, I began this project the day that we first saw sun after all the rain and cloudy days we had. These pictures show things that have a shadow due to light created in my house or simply from sun light. Shadows are just something people never think to look at.

Reflection

For this project, I chose to do reflection.  This was a fun and new way to look at pictures and photography. This was also challenging though, trying to find things that are reflective.  I tried to avoid mirrors because that is what most people think of when you think of the word "reflection".  These pictures show what all I could find that would be a neat view from reflection.  Over all this project was fun.

Perspective

For perspective, my goal was to look at things from a different view that people would not usually think of.  Looking at these pictures, I feel that I achieved my goal.  These pictures are unique to the eye because it makes you think of the angle and it almost fools the eye.  Each picture is of various things that I caught at an unusual angle. These has taught me to look at things from a new "perspective."
